There seems to be no category for Fan Art Sculpture. … Well, it has been almost a year since I last posted a journal entry. Oh well. … I got some clay to keep on my desk at work. It is the best desk toy ever. If you work in a cube, I highly recommend you get some. Even if you do not feel skilled or inclinded in this area, simply making cubes and spheres – and then smashing them – can be very refreshing and take away some of the misery that comes from spending 1/3 of your waking hours in a cubical (*shudder*). None of it has been very commentable—thus no new scraps. Pity that. I have this problem, you see. I  love drawing from Hogarth and Bridgman's anatomy texts. But that is pretty much all I have done for the last five months. I need a change. Don't get me wrong, I will continue to draw from both these books—there is too much to learn from them. And I do enjoy it. But I have reached that point where I am not excited when I pull out my sketch book. That's no good. Sure, finishing a piece is cathartic, to be sure. But it is the creating that is maddeningly addictive. It is in that fantastic state—where your conscience thoughts are quiet and your mind simply translates thoughts and shapes onto the page—that the artist finds ultimate satisfaction.
